I'm back home after an intensive two week trip to Hong Kong! The first week I was lucky to stay at the Hyatt in Tsim Sha Tsui, right above the K11 Art Mall. I had a series of four concerts in the outdoor atrium at K11 where I played works from Astor Piazolla to Tan Dun. There I met up with Simone Porter, who also participated in the concerts as well!
Afterwards, I met Aristo Sham, Alex Prior and Simone Porter to prepare for the next big performance with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong. We rehearsed intensively for a week, starting on a Monday for concerts on Friday and Saturday. One concert was in Sha Tin and the other was in Tseun Wan. Both were a great accomplishment. I played Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations, and both Simone and Aristo played Mozart Concertos. We also played the world premiere of Alex Prior's piece and the audience enjoyed themselves a lot.
Hong Kong itself was incredible. Great food, great shopping, amazing energy. I want more Octopus cards here in the states. LOL.
